pictures from stops along the pacific coast highway in malibu today. a mild, pale and partly sunny day. cruising the coast at 60mph with the sunroof open, the smell of the sea, and birds flying beside my car like dolphins around a boat was the right amount of HELL YES i needed.
seemed like as good a time as any to experiment with textures. i like how the images responded to them. they became a little softer, like they'd been held, or pressed in a family album for years. i remember hearing a This American Life podcast about home movies and someone said that a majority of old home movies were shot on vacation at the beach. that's what i see in these. nostalgia. inconsequential snapshots of commonplace subjects that serve as a reminder of what it felt like to be there.
