heartbreaking journeys

my father, robert, and my friend, denise, sent me a beautiful package full of wonderfully thoughtful things to make me happy.  a glass heart with golden wings didn't survive the cross-country trek.  at first, i thought i'd throw it away because, surely, a glass heart with a broken wing can't be a good thing to look at all the time.  and then i took pictures of it and realized its value.  it's not perfect, but it's mine.

i got a bad haircut a few weeks ago, around the time i received the broken heart.  i fixed it myself, cutting away large chunks of unwanted hair until i was too petrified to continue any further.  my hair looks better now.  less heavy and unmotivated.

  1. Aren't we all glass hearts with a broken wing in one way or another?
