it's the smoke that kills you

we've all heard the expression, "where there's smoke, there's fire".  it's an old-fashioned idiom meant to grow fear in the simple hearts of stupid people.  the implication is that, for example, if someone's screaming, you might suspect they're in trouble.  of course, if you live in los angeles, it might just be a bunch of idiots shooting a piece-of-crap film nearby.
