vermont is the 2nd least populated state, which is one reason so many go there to recharge - communion with nature, a slow pace, and delicious local produce and meat. what you don't see in vermont is just as much a mood booster - traffic, billboards (they're illegal), litter, and homeless people (fewest in the nation). ok, i think i saw a homeless person in burlington once. but compared to life in los angeles, a visit to vermont is like stepping back in time. back to when i hunted fireflies and salamanders, when i ran home in time for curfew at sundown with wet sneakers and red cheeks. way back to when the night sky exploded with stars and there was every reason in the world to have a dream and hope it came true.
